Ray performed with a big band conducted by Mitch Miller, and has toured Europe three times with various groups. He has led a Buffalo-area trad jazz band called Jambalaya for the past 10 years which has performed at the Earlyjaz Festival in Ohio and the Hot Steamed Jazz Festival in Connecticut.
