Jim is formally trained, having both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in music from Wayne State University. On the classical side, he has been principal bassist for the Lansing, Kalamazoo and Jackson Symphonies, and performs with the Sarasota Pops Orchestra in Florida during the winter season. He played for six weeks with Prez Prado back in the 60s, and has performed as a sideman with Henry Mancini, Dave Brubeck, and Doc Severinsen.
