Georgia Korba

Georgia Korba

Instrument(s): upright & electric bass
Hometown: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Member since: 2005

This 22 year old is currently attending Capilano College in North Vancouver, majoring in Jazz studies performance. Georgia has been playing bass (and loving every minute of it) for the past eight years. Some of her influences include Duke Ellington, Ray Brown, Gary Peacock and a whole lot more.

Not knowing what she was in for and never playing a drop of traditional jazz in her life, Georgia joined the 51st Eight in March. She sends a big thank you to her friend Bria Skonberg for taking a chance on her and teaching her so much.

Along with playing in the 51st Eight, she also is a member of Simon Stribling’s New Orleans Ale Stars, and the newly founded Mighty Aphrodite Jazz Band led by Bria Skonberg and Claire Mckenna.
