Nate was born in Detroit. When he was 11 years old, a traveling music salesman came to his house and asked what instrument he would like to play. Nate said, "a saxophone." But his mom said, "No, he would like to play a trumpet" because it had only 3 buttons. And thus the die was cast. Over the years he has performed with Doug Jacob's Red Garter Band, the Zug Island All Stars, the Tailgate Ramblers, and Bob Milne.
